Molding Sinopec PP K8009: Barrel & Mold Temp

Sinopec PP K8009 is a medium-impact block copolymer developed for injection-molded parts, including automotive components. Its rubber-rich phase gives toughness while the homopolymer matrix keeps stiffness and cycle speed reasonable.

Barrel temperature sets how fully and evenly the melt forms. Too low and the part fills poorly or shows weld lines; too high and degradation and flash risk rise. A graduated profile from feed to nozzle is the usual approach.

Mold temperature controls skin cooling and crystallinity. A warmer mold improves surface replication and relieves internal stress, while a cooler mold shortens cycle time at some cost to appearance and warpage.

Holding Pressure And Cooling

After fill, pack and hold pressure compensate shrinkage and keep dimensions stable. Copolymer parts are sensitive to gate and packing balance, so these are tuned per tool rather than copied blindly.

Cooling time often dominates the cycle. Enough uniform cooling prevents sink and warpage in thicker sections, and a well-designed cooling circuit protects both output and part quality.
