BOPP Film Grade: PPH-T03 vs Random Copo

Film-grade polypropylene comes mainly as homopolymer or random copolymer. The difference is whether a small amount of comonomer is built into the chain: homopolymer is essentially pure propylene, while random copolymer mixes in ethylene units.

Homopolymer film, such as PPH-T03, typically offers higher stiffness, better water-vapor barrier and excellent clarity after orientation. That makes it the workhorse for packaging, labeling and lamination films where rigidity and appearance matter.

Random copolymer film lowers the seal-initiation temperature and improves low-temperature impact and optical properties, which suits heat-seal layers and cold-climate use. The trade-off is usually a little less stiffness and barrier versus homopolymer.

Choosing The Right Film Structure

Many films are co-extruded: a homopolymer core for stiffness and clarity, paired with a random copolymer skin for easy sealing. This captures the strengths of both without a single-grade compromise.

Where a mono-layer film must do everything, the choice hinges on whether seal temperature or rigid clarity leads the spec. PPH-T03 fits applications that prize stiffness and optics in the main layer.
